HIGH INTENSITY BLACK LIGHT

UV Fluorescence - possibly the world's smallest, brightest ultraviolet light. You can detect counterfeits, check UV fluorescent hand stamps & much more. Our UV / Ultraviolet light ("Backlight") LED flashlight is perfect for activating fluorescent ink, strips & fibers used in bank notes, credit cards, casino chips, passports, checks and more. This is just an amazing light, useful in so many situations. This is the one to have in your pocket, car glove box and desk drawer, and it certainly is the right size. You just ever know when you will need another. They are wonderfully priced so you can own 2 or 3.

The UV LED beam has a fairly narrow focus and unlike a traditional backlight, most of the light produced by the UV pocket light is just outside the visible spectrum (385 nm). In full darkness it will cause objects to fluoresce at distances of 20 feet or more. In bright daylight the effectiveness is greatly reduced, but is still usable at about 6-12 inches. The light itself is about 1.5 x 1 inches - talk about being compact - large punch in a small package.

This has an unbreakable LED Bulb. The LED bulb is incredibly tough and is covered under a lifetime guarantee. The unit hides under a quarter and is the same weight, a mere 5 1/2 grams. The lithium batteries last for approximately 20 hours.

The uses of this black light are numerous.

Use UV Light to Spot Germs
Checking ultraviolet inks in currency and ID's
Check credit cards- Discover Cards have "NOVUS", MasterCard have "M C", and Visa has an eagle in UV ink.
Activation of fluorescent inks/dyes used as anti-counterfeiting measures
Checking hand stamps at clubs
Examining artwork and glasswork for hidden repairs
Small UV source will fit inside and behind objects

Scan a crime scene for foreign materials

Scorpion Illumination, Scorpion hunting or avoidance
Fluorescing diamonds- some will glow in the dark.

All official casino chips incorporate some sort of UV-sensitive markings

Actually there are many uses besides identifying fake Vs real amber. Here are some of them:

  • Many scorpion species show up in UV light. Take your light to a desert and find scorpions!
  • Cat urine shows up in UV light. Ever wonder if your cat is urinating behind the chairs?
  • Paper Products: Most paper products--like post cards, books, signs, photos papers, etc.--made before the late 1930s-WW2 era rarely fluoresces. Paper products made since 1950, however generally fluoresces brightly due to large amounts of chemical bleaches and dyes.
  • In works of art, modern paint will fluoresce or glow under a black light, older paints will not. Thus, pictures that have been "touched up" with modern paint will glow.
Repairs or hairline cracks may show and become more apparent under backlight.
  • Art Glass: Lalique before 1945 fluoresces yellow; after 1945, it does not. Genuine old Burmese fluoresces bright yellow green, new reproductions do not.
  • Porcelain: Hard paste porcelain will fluoresce a deep blue or purple color. Soft paste will fluoresce white.
