CHIAPAS AMBER

This is the fabled Chiapas amber from the Mayan mines in Chiapas, Mexico. It is fairly difficult to get a hold of and is highly prized for its impressive color and transparency. You can find reds, blues, greens and of course amber colors. This is real color, not like altered Baltic amber. This is quite a find and not seen often! You can do just about anything you want with this amber. My suggestion is for jewelry - the depth of color is seldom seen in any amber from anywhere else!

All of these pieces of amber were hand-polished by Mayan (Tzotzil) Indigenous people. NO machines, tumblers, or etc. were used.

$138	2. Fascinating piece of amber. Very clear with a very unusual animal inside. First there is a nice platypodid beetle, Coleoptera, Platypodidae. But next to the beetle is a very unusual "moth?" I am not sure what it is. Very hairy and you can even see some patterns in what may be the wing - I just cannot tell for sure. Whatever it is - it is cool. There is even a springtail, Collembola. $450	3. Large piece of amber. Strange colors to it -1/2 is amber yellow and the other half is green. The green comes in a swirl pattern - very shape and attractive. 30.6 grams in weight. Photo Image!

To top that off, in this wonderfully clear green amber are 2 medium sized, chalacidid wasps, Hymenoptera, Chalcididae. $149 SOLD	14. Large piece, 1.5 around - more like a spherical rock. This has a clear light green interior of green with organic debris. There is a nice spider, what looks like a baby spider (not sure) and another insect It weighs 14.6 grams.

$210 SOLD	18. Ruby red with a green fluorescence to it. Pretty good sized, being about 14.2 grams. There is a small amount of organic material in this piece, I did not see any insects though. This is quite a nice piece.
$60	19. This has what looks like reddish spots while the stone is a light green. Very nice swirls in the stone. It weighs 6.2 grams
$69 SOLD	20. Long piece with something near the middle. Looks like a bit of a torn leaf (doubtful though). You could make a nice pendant with this. It weighs 2.5 grams, greenish and is about an inch long.

Postage for amber will usually cost $5.35 (USD Priority Mail in the USA) or 1st class mail anywhere in the world. There may be exceptions to this. We will get your sample to you as soon as possible (usually mailed the same day or at worst, the next day). U.S. orders go out by Priority Mail, overseas as Air Mail. Books are normally mailed "Media Mail", unless they are light, in which case they are mailed first class. Overseas books are air mail unless the weight is prohibitive, in which case you will have the option of surface (ship) or paying a bit extra for air mail. All prices are in U.S. dollars.
