CHIAPAS AMBER

This is the fabled Chiapas amber from the Mayan mines in Chiapas, Mexico. It is fairly difficult to get a hold of and is highly prized for its impressive color and transparency. You can find reds, blues, greens and of course amber colors. This is real color, not like altered Baltic amber. This is quite a find and not seen often! You can do just about anything you want with this amber. My suggestion is for jewelry - the depth of color is seldom seen in any amber from anywhere else!

All of these pieces of amber were hand-polished by Mayan (Tzotzil) Indigenous people. NO machines, tumblers, or etc. were used.

$1,441 SOLD	3. Boy, is this the piece. This is 26 grams of good (unbelievable) green with a beautiful polish. It has what looks like a torn leaf (I do not think it is, although I could be wrong on this.) But even more than that, this has the rare pseudoscorpion in it. You just do not find Chiapas amber with pseudoscorpions, much less green amber. There is also an ant head, Hymenoptera, Formicidae and 2 gnats, Diptera. This is a large, really a special piece that should good into a special collection. You will love some of these photos. $148 SOLD	5. What an unusual piece of amber. This weighs 7.4 grams and is loaded with bugs. There is a spider centrally located along with 3 gnats, a wasp and an unknown. This is greenish - yellow and is a quality piece of Chiapas amber.
$49	6. This is a yellowish piece with a bit of green, good shape (wavy) and a real beauty in color. 5.2 grams.
$57	7. 6.6 grams to this piece. The back side is not polished, so this gives the front (cab) an unusual appearance.
$99	8. This is rather thick and very clear. Great polish, great olive green color. It is 9.9 grams of amber.

$975	10. Probably one of the most beautiful cognac green pieces of Chiapas amber I have ever seen. This is a magnificent piece. To top that off, in this wonderfully clear green amber are 2 medium sized, chalacidid wasps, Hymenoptera, Chalcididae. $149	14. Large piece, 1.5 around - more like a spherical rock. This has a clear light green interior of green with organic debris. There is a nice spider, what looks like a baby spider (not sure) and another insect It weighs 14.6 grams.
$105	15. An interesting green piece. It weighs 11.1 grams. One side is still rough (Chiapas amber can have a different texture in the rough than Dominican) and there are are also two unpolished spots off the rough side. Good color.

$210	18. Ruby red with a green fluorescence to it. Pretty good sized, being about 14.2 grams. There is a small amount of organic material in this piece, I did not see any insects though. This is quite a nice piece.
$60	19. This has what looks like reddish spots while the stone is a light green. Very nice swirls in the stone. It weighs 6.2 grams
$140	20. Largish size to this gold colored piece of Chiapas amber. Not only is it 14.4 grams but it looks like it has a nice ant, Hymenoptera, Formicidae in it also.
$88	21 Nice sized piece that is wavy. Interesting surface to this because of the waves. Has some good organics in it. 9.7 grams in weight.
