1.
The insects
are in a plane that makes observation difficult. There are a number
of large
wasps, an adult planthopper with the wing
pattern still evident and
a very small
wasp.

2. This amber has class. This is a good sized piece (dome shape
with flatish bottom) about an inch long. Wow, does it have a lot
inside. Among other things, there are two fungus
gnat, Diptera, Mycetophilidae, 2
wasps, Hymenoptera,
a good sized bark-gnawing
beetle, Coleoptera, Ostomatidae, a
springtail, Collembola, Entomobryidae and a gall gnat, Diptera,
Cecidomyiidae. Now, there is more, but only
about 2 or 3 more. We can see this as one heck of a pendant!
There is even what looks like a mammalian
hair - although we do not guarantee that.

3.
This piece has a depth to it that is seldom seen. The organic
debris scattered throughout gives it a 3-D feel, which is very
unusual. There is a good sized moth in this piece (at least I
think it is
a moth - I do not think it is a caddis fly.) The wings have
a particularly
impressive texture to them. Then near a piece of debris is
a mite.
Mites are not
common, they often attach to animals
for rides, as this one probably
did. There are a few other
miscellaneous animals scattered
here also. A very impressive piece of amber.

4. No collection is complete without the rare
bristletail. Bristletails are the most developed of the wingless
insects. They undergo simple
metamorphosis. Nymphs and adult insects look almost the same.
This one is in the subclass
Apterygota, order Thysanura.
Bristletails are rare in amber.

5. Interesting piece of amber that contains the imprint of a Dipteran
who "got
away". But the nice thing about this piece is that there
is a mite
in it. Mites are rather unusual
to find.

6.
2 ants, Hymenoptera, Formiciadae (sterile female worker ants) and
two spiders,
one larger than the
other. Concerning the
ants, they probably are different species since one
is large and the
other is small. The amber has a deep amber color to it. Nice
piece.

7.
If you want to see a lot of winged
termites, Isoptera, this
is yours! There are so many with such large wings that it looks
like a portion
of a leaf. There is also a biting midge and a sterile female
ant. This is just a good piece.

8. Rather large piece of very clear amber that has an excellent
shape. Good potential for a nice pendant. This amber has a spider
and a gall gnat, Diptera, Cecidoomyiidae. There is also a bract
from a flower ( small portion of the covering of the flower.) This
is a very good price for the piece.

a gall gnat, Diptera: Cecidomyiidae

12. Three Platypodidae beetles (Coleoptera, Platypodidae): flat-footed
ambrosia beetles. The amber is flat on one side and dome shaped
on the other. It is very
yellow and very clear (better than normal.) This is a potential
pendant! Scanned

This is a small piece of amber with a gnat. Actually it is easy
to see the gnat since it is so dark.

This amber also is flat on the bottom. It has a lot: there is
an adult planthopper,
Homoptera, super
family Fulgoroidea,
a fungus
gnat, Diptera, Mycetophilidae, a small wasp, Hymenoptera and
a misc. leg. The amber has many
layers which resulted from a series of different resin flows
from the tree. Nice piece.

up a new world. There is a ant head, Hymenoptera, Formicidae, along
with that there are some

scale, a beetle
larvae, and a true
midge, Diptera, Chironomidae
and a termite
(abdomen is sliced off) and even
a tube (unknown tube).

23. Unusual piece, there is a lot of organic debris
that clouds the view. But you can see a caddis
fly, Tripchoptera, a fungus
gnat, Diptera Mycetophilidae and some very
strange bubbles.

24.
Cab shape to this amber. It is clear with that 3-D look to the inside.
Very unusual. There is a rare isopod, Sphaeroniscidae. Isopods have
7 pairs of legs corresponding to the last seven thoracic segments.
They dwell in damp environments such as river banks, or beaches,
or tree stumps and humus. Scanned
