There is a lot here. If you have interests in springtails
(Collembola),
this is a must. There are a bunch
of these critters, on is in the family Entomobryidae. Many
have the
forked spring projecting backwards. There
also is a millipede,
Polyxenidae with many of the fine hairs coming off the animal.
Also, it appears one of the animals was laying
eggs where it died. There is just a lot
of stuff, each time you look at it, you will find something
else, gnats,
fungus gnats.

Beautiful piece of amber with a lovely sap beetle. Very clear, the
sap beetle is large and easily seen. There are interesting bubbles
that look like they they are coming from the posterior end (I am
not sure they are.) Also a small fly, Diptera, Nematocera. An impressive
piece of Dominican amber with 24 million year old animals.

4.
Nice cab shape with a distinct caddis
fly, Trichoptera. The larvae of some caddis flies makes cases
of bits of leaves, twigs, grains of sand and other materials.
The name 'caddis' derives from the imagined resemblance of this
patchwork
case to itinerant tailors of medieval London, who walked the
streets with many different swatches of cloth
pinned all over their outer garments as samples. The swatches
were called caddises and the tailors were called caddismen.

I love this piece. It's claim to fame are not animals inside, but
an amber tube. These tubes form and then another resin flow occurs
and surrounds the stalactite - unusual piece.

8. This has a pinhole
borer beetle, Coleoptera, Platypodidae and something else (which
I am just not sure..) This piece reminds me of a guitar pick.
It also has lots of organic debris in it, which is probably termite
'waste' - 1 3/4 inches long!

I like this piece. Looks like a
decayed twig going through it - off to the side is a
planthopper nymph, Homoptera,

air bubble within a bubble.

A small and nice piece of amber with most of a crane
fly in it, Diptera, Tipulidae.
The very anterior portion of the fly is missing. A Crane fly has
a very long body and very long
legs. There is also the remains of a beetle
larvae shed, a fly and even a spider!
Finally there is a small piece
of a plant.

Good sized piece of Dominican amber, with some interesting amber
flow lines (you can see stalagmite formation with amber). There
are a number of fungus
gnats, Diptera, Mycetophilidae and some beetles and a winged
ant (male).
There are other non-identified
insects in this
piece. There is a petal
from a flower. But the biggest thing here is - there is part
of a spider
web. You can see sticky
globules on the
web and you can even see on insect that got
caught in the web. Very cool.

(they are there.....)

Talk about big pieces of amber - 37.6 grams! This is a very large
piece that tends to be more egg shape than anything else. There
is a winged
termite, Isoptera and a male
winged ant, Order Hymenoptera Family Formicidae. Much of the
detail
on the ant is good. This hunk of a piece has a mite
in it. Mites are rather rare and not commonly found. This particular
one is in the Order Acarina, Family Erythraeidae. There is a small
but nice Coleopteran
also and an unknown
gnat. Scanned

I am going to ID this animal as a crane
fly, Diptera, Tipulidae
- but I have some serious doubts about the strange
markings on this guy. The thorax
is slightly elongated similar to a praying mantis - but I do
not think it is. I must ell you, the more I see it, the more I think
it is a praying mantis. Just not
100% sure - but one thing I am though, this is a good
piece. Take a look at the patterning on the legs.

A fungus gnat that got attacked by
