Lizard Tail in Amber

Here is a portion (back portion) of a lizards tail. I will take a rough guess and say that this is the tail of a Gecko. I can see color patterns when I look at it under the microscope. The piece of amber is about .75 inches x .5 inches and generally cab shaped. It is rather rare to find part of a lizard in amber. In this case I will guess that the unlucky lizard was attacked, allowed the tail to be ripped off and made a successful escape, tailess. The animal who ended up with the tail lost it for some reason and this tail has now been immortalized for the 25 million years in Dominican amber.

When you look at the scanned image, you will notice that there is a rather large female, worker ant in the amber. The tail and the ant make an interesting comparison.

Now to make things even better, please notice that this lizard tail will not cost you an arm and a tail! We are pricing it at a very reasonable $350.

By the way, notice the pattern in the above picture. Dark on the left then near the right side of the image, it is light colored. The occurs throughout the tail.

This is a very nice piece, it is prize to add this to one's collection.

Postage for amber will usually cost $5.35 (USD Priority Mail in the USA) or 1st class mail anywhere in the world. There may be exceptions to this. We will get your sample to you as soon as possible (usually mailed the same day or at worst, the next day). U.S. orders go out by Priority Mail, overseas as Air Mail. Books are normally mailed "Media Mail", unless they are light, in which case they are mailed first class. Overseas books are air mail unless the weight is prohibitive, in which case you will have the option of surface (ship) or paying a bit extra for air mail. All prices are in U.S. dollars.
