Belomo Loupe

This is a beautiful triplet loupe for observing just about anything you can think of. Rocks, insects, splinters, coins, stamps, money, you name it, this can do it. I was originally introduced to this loupe when a Dominican miner gave me one as a present and I just fell in love with it. So often, the inexpensive loupes that one buys are destroyed in a month. This is a metal triplet loupe, not just a single magnifier!

They are made by a Russian firm (yes, they have instructions in Russian also if you understand Russian!) They are made in Belarus, a former state of the USSR. The factory was originally set up for making high quality optics for military use. They even made high resolution satellite cameras, so you can expect high quality standards from them. Apparently they can make money when they sell to the United States. Nonetheless, we pass the savings on to you. The construction is excellent, being made of glass, metal and screws. This is not a cheap plastic loupe. Triplet loupes can cost between $40 and $120. This one is very inexpensive; only $28.25. My Dad (who was an airline pilot) always carried one around in his travel kit. If any of us kids got a splinter, he would always pull out his loupe and get the piece wood. Although Dad's loupe was not this one, it was great when you needed it.

Wholesalers: if you are interested in large numbers, feel free to contact us.

Here is more information on Belomo that you never wanted to know!

BELOMO or Belarus Optiko Mechanichesckoye Obyedinenie (Belarus Optical & Mechanical Enterprise) founded in Minsk in 1957 in what was then the Soviet Union, now Belarus. Originally named the Minsk Mechanichesckoye Zavod S.I. Vavilov (Minsk Mechanical WorksS.I. Vavilov). In 1971 it became known as BELOMO.

At first it made photographic equipment and lens-making machinery for state use. It now manufactures military and consumeroptical products. During the 1980s it produced the now-discontinued AGAT 18 and 18Khalf-frame 35mm cameras, still popular among lomographic photographers.

A joint venture with German optics maker Zeiss was begun in 1995. The firm produces lenses and optical elements for microscopes and other optical equipment with ISO 9001 certification.
