Fossiliferous Madagascar Copal

Here are some very nice examples of highly fossiliferous Madagascar copal. We have a small but solid amount of this material. Just about every piece has one or more fossils in it . For the most part, they are not large, the average being 1 or 2 inches long. Generally stalactite shaped (long and thin). Most of the copal has a polish to it, so it is not considered "raw copal" The way we are offering this is by the gram. 1 gram, $.90.

If you collect amber and/or copal, then this is your opportunity to pick up some good Madagascar copal at a very good price.

For folks who do not think in grams, 1" x .5" might weighs 3 grams, 2" x 1" might weigh 12 grams, or you can take a look at some of the pictures to get an idea. You should not have to spend a lot of money to get 1 or 2 nice pieces.

Most of the insects in the copal are fungus gnats, midges and beetles. There are also a good number of spiders and of course, many pieces have unique and special insects in them. All of these pictures are representative of the copal.

This Madagascar copal is offered in 3, 6, 20, 40 and 100 gram lots. Use the pull down box below to determine total weight. If you want something else, feel free to contact us at sales@ambericawest.com

We just recently acquired a moderate supply of rougher Madagascar copal. It is about the same size as the pieces above, but is not polished as well and really would be conisdered rough. The fossil content is a bit less, that is, not every piece has a fossil, but 'most' of them do contain one or more fossils.
