1.
Here is a beautiful piece of amber with a perfect millipede, Polydesmida.
You can see the details on this animal very well. If you just
want a great example of a millipede, this is it.

2.
Here is a large chunk
of amber. It
has got a lot inside this baby. Plants
parts, animals sewn
around, even has
a mite and some
eggs, probably form an insect. There is a planthopper,
Homoptera, Fulgoridea and
of course the
millipede. There is a nice
barklouse, Psocoptera, near the middle. There
are a number
of unknowns also.

4. This is quite the piece. There is a complete millipede and
a lot more. Looks like a fungus gnat was caught in the act of
laying eggs (unusual.) There is at least one fly with some fungus gnat
on it's back and one beetle. This is a very nice piece with quality
inclusions.

5.
This is one that you will fall in love with. It
has a nice
example of a "common millipede"
Polydesmida and a lot more. Everywhere
you look, you will find
something. There
is a large crane
fly with many
legs, Diptera, Tipulidae,
a slew of female worker ants and midges. There is also a
spider. This is
just good - what I call
the 'wow' piece.

6. Large hunk of amber with a stem going through the middle (cool).
There is
what looks like a beetle
larvae (not a
millipede.) Also has another beetle
larvae a wasp
and a biting
midge, Ceratopogonidae. There are
so many fungus gnats, I cannot
count them, Diptera,
Mycetophilidae. Also 2 long legged files, Dolichopodidae and much
more. This
is really a hoot to
look at.

7. This one I am not sure about. While it does appear to have
segmentation similar to larvae, it also looks like it has pincers
in the abdomen - I do not think it is a mayfly and I suspect it
is not a larva, I just do not know. The amber is very large, roundish
and very clear. This is a very nice specimen! Scanned Image

8.
Flat, pendant shape to this amber. There is a large
beetle larvae (I think it is a beetle larvae.) Interesting piece
of amber.

9. Interesting piece of amber. Good sized with two
large
wasps, Hymenoptera. Off to one side is what looks like a larva
that is twisted at a 90 degree angle. It almost
looks juicy! Small but very nice larva.

10. A very small but perfect piece with a nice larva
of a beetle - looks like a mealy bug larvae to me (I am sure it
is not)! You can't go wrong on this one. Scanned Image!

11.
Great piece. Nice shape, with lots of organic debris which adds
character. This has a very large millipede, Polysdemida near the
middle. In fact, this one looks like it could have soft parts
to the body. It is a very, very nice piece.

12. This has a great shape to it and it is very clear. All in
all, one heck of a piece. You will enjoy looking at the coprolites
and beetle larvae.

13.
Every once in a while you run across specimens that just have
"the spark". This
one does. There are 4
beetle larvae swimming in a sea of crystal
bubbles The amber is clear
and the bubbles have a crispness
that is seldom seen (really).
I wish I could tell what type of beetle larvae they are, but I
just cannot. You will enjoy looking at these pictures. Scanned Image!

14. Centipedes are NOT common in amber,
much less Dominican amber.
But here is a beauty. The
antennae are very thick on
this guy. There are a few amber glazing surface cracks on the
side away from the centipede. This is a rare
piece, at a GREAT price. You just do not see these very often.
The piece is loaded with other life (mainly Dipterans) Scanned Image!

Wow, here is a millipede
(large one at that) that shows very well. There are also some
24 million year old air bubbles scattered throughout the piece.
Nice piece.

16. This is a very small (15 mm in length) millipede.
This one though has too many
legs! I cannot ID it. Possibly this is a new
genus of millipede - for anyone out there knowing their archaic
millipedes. This one might be named by you (I would love to
have my name in the species.............If so, I will refund your
money) Scanned Image

17. Millipede:
Order Polyxenida, Class Diplopoda, Polyxenidae! This specimen is as nice as
they get. Perfectly clear yellow amber and easy
to see. You can see each segment
along with the hairs. This specimen is priced very well! This is a magnificent
piece of amber with the specimen easily seen. . Scanned Image!

18. Possibly
a larvae of an unknown
insect. The amber is tear drop shape, flattish on one side
and perfectly clear throughout. Superb specimen. The larvae is curled. Scanned Image

23. This is the third one!
Millipede: Order Polyxenida, Class Diplopoda, Polyxenidae! This specimen is also as nice
as they get. Very clear yellow amber and also easy to see. You can see each segment
along with the hairs.I realize that it is hard to believe two of them are right
here, but it is true! There is a leaflet
to boot. On the under side of this leaflet, it appears that
there is some sort of 'scale'
on it - at least that it was it looks like. Scanned Image!

24. Super
clear yellow amber with 1
small beetle larvae and 2
gnats (Diptera). The larvae and gnats (one male and one female)
are along an 'amber plane' right near the middle. The amber plane
was made by a second resin flow over the animals. There is also
a small fly, Diptera on the
other side. This is a very nice piece. Take a look at the scan

26. Large
piece of amber with lines through out the piece. The is a large
curled millipede in this
piece. Also included is a small
wasp and some type of
fly. The millipede
is on the side and does not scan well. It is a good millipede
though! the antennae are rather thick and large on this guy.

27. Here is a millipede that appears to have
"walked" through a spider web (trailing behind it).
At the anterior portion is either another part of a spider web
or a fungal attachment. I am not sure on this. It is cool looking
though! There is also a mite off to the side!

28. Almost
square piece of amber that is cloudy on one side. There is a
nice millipede and contains about 3/4 of the body. Very interesting
segmentation to it! On the cloudy side is what looks like 2
fractions of other millipedes.
