#30. Earwigs,
Dermaptera, have sissor-like
tails, long and curved in the male and short and straight
in the female (this
is a female.) Female earwigs tend
their eggs until they
hatch and become adult. These are rare in amber. This piece
is good sized, clear with a very easy to see earwig.

An immature cricket and part of a leaflet. The cricket is easy
to see.

#32 Here is another one of those beautiful pieces with a single
solitary animal inside. In this case there is a wasp, turned at
an angle. The amber is clear and cab shaped.

#33.
Millipede - Diplopoda: Polydesmida, this is a small piece of amber
with a VERY nice millipede. In fact it is one of the nicest.

While some
wasps are tough to ID, so are not, this is an
ensign wasp, Hymenoptera, Evaniidae
- the constriction at the abdomen is a dead
giveaway. The larvae of the ensign
wasp are parasitic in egg capsules of roaches. The adults
are likely to appear in places where cockroaches appear.

#35
Very clear piece of amber with some surface glazing. This has
a beautiful planthopper, Hompotera, Fulgoridea and on the other
side there is a very large springtail, Collembola. Nice animals
in this piece.

#36 Clear Dominican amber with a small, but very good, psyllid,
Homoptera, Psyllidae. If you do not have a psyllid, then this
is a beauty for your collection.

This one is cool. You may know that amber is really fossilized
resin from trees. The liquid resin often comes out in waves, or
layers and can form stalagmites (like icicles on a roof) Here
is a cross-section from such
formation. You can see the ring formation very well. There is
a gnat in the amber, but it is almost impossible to see it. Very
unusual and a good addition to someone's collection. Scanned

#38
This is a small piece of amber. While small, it contains a perfect
fungus gnat, Diptera, Mycetophilidae. It is so good, you can still
see the wing coloration pattern.

I do not know
for sure what the large
animal is for sure, but I think it is a psyllid, Homoptera,
Psyllidae. On the other
side of the small piece of amber are some
ant parts (fight?). The amber has glazing on the surface.

Every once in a while you run across a nice piece of amber with
an unknown
animal. So it is here. I just am not sure what it is - maybe
a wasp? The amber is a good piece though.

A very nice male,
winged ant, Hymenoptera, Formicidae.
The amber is clear and the ant is very easy to see. The tip of
the abdomen even looks like it may have soft
material still inside (doubtful though because this guy is
25
million years old). Good piece of amber.

#42 Lovely piece of
clear amber with a small but
perfect psyllid. This is what I consider to be a
perfect representation of Psyllidae (Homoptera).

#43 This amber contains a 24 million year old stingless
bee, Hymenoptera, Melipodidae,
genus, Proplebeia,
species dominica. The piece looks like it would make a beautiful
pendant. This nice sized piece of amber also has a small piece
of moss.

Here is a
psyllid. Now I admit that they are not rare in amber, but
this is a good one. Even more so, the antennae are rather
long on this animal - enough that I think it may be a new
species (although I do not consider myself an expert in Homoptera.)
If it is - I want the name!

Wow - you not find to many planthoppers larger than this, Homoptera,
Fulgoroidea. This guy is really big and impressive. At a glance,
you can see how big he is. Also has a a perfect fungus gnat, Diptera,
Mycetophilidae (male).

This is a pendant "wanna-be". This has 3 stamens and
filaments. Very clear, very yellow and very nice. This is a winner.

Smallish piece of amber with surface glazing - but it has
an isopod
(woodlice), Isopoda.
Good price on this guy.

An adult planthopper, Order
Homoptera, Super Family Fulgoroidea.
This is a very large piece that has just a beautiful adult planthopper!
Detail on this guy is unbelievable.
The amber is a beautiful clear yellow and the planthopper is large.
There are numerous other Dipterans, midge,
fly, thrip
and even one half of a mosquito!
This is a collectors piece.

Cab shape and clear. This contains an immature planthopper, Homoptera,
superfamily Fulgoroidea, a single wing from something like a termite,
and a wasp (Dispriid?)

#51. This has an isopod next to a very nice fly, Diptera, Brachycera.
There is some surface glazing on this piece, otherwise the price
would be double.

clear amber. Nice piece.

#54.
This is a piece that I am not sure of - it may hold a very unusual
specimen. I usually hold these in my own collection because
I think it may be valuable for future IDs. I am not sure about
what is here. There is a fly that reminds me of a crane fly,
you can see wing patterns. There are 2 others (one large one
small) with elongated bodies. I will not try and ID either.
