30.
At first glance, you don't see a lot, but a second glance brings
up a new world. There is a ant head, Hymenoptera, Formicidae, along
with that there are some
gnats, Di ptera, Mycetophilidae, a leaf
scale, a beetle
larvae, and a true
midge, Diptera, Chironomidae and a termite (abdomen is sliced off) and even
a tube (unknown tube).

31. This has a lot of dead life in it. There is a fungus gnat, Diptera, Mycetophilidae, a nice millipede, Diplopoda, Platydesmida, some unknown large legs, part of a curled up leaf (cool looking), and some other miscellaneous gnats and such. There is even the head of an ant. Scanned Image! |

32.
A Nice shape to this clear piece of Dominican amber. There is a
curled worker termite, a springtail, Collembola and what look like 2 dance flies, Diptera, Empididae. Good shape for a pendant.

33. This is an unusual piece. It contains roots and a small Bryophyte. Roots are classically found in 'fake' amber (this is NOT fake) so, to find one like this is particularily cool. There are some wasps also.

While some
wasps are tough to ID, so are not, this is an
ensign wasp, Hymenoptera, Evaniidae - the constriction at the abdomen is a dead
giveaway. The larvae of the ensign
wasp are parasitic in egg capsules of roaches. The adults
are likely to appear in places where cockroaches appear.

A Wonderful shape to this - ready for a pendant. There are the remains of a planthopper, Homoptera, Delphacidae along with a small gall gnat, Cecidomyiidae.

36. Here is what I call a " death assembly". There are a 'bunch' of female ants who followed one another to their death 24 milliion years ago. Looks like they were carrying many things also. A cool and unusual piece. You do not see them like this often.

37.
A terrestrial Isopod.
The amber is only fair and the isopod it difficult
to see.

38. Unknown - I just am not sure what this one is. It is in great shape, the amber is a cab and very clear, but to ID it, I may get it wrong. For that reason I will just call it 'unknown'.

I do not know for sure what the large
animal is for sure, but I think it is a psocid,
Psocodea. On the other
side of the small piece of amber are some
ant parts (fight?). The amber has glazing on the surface.

40.
One heck of a big piece of amber. Almost 25 grams and 2 x 1.5 x .75 inches. Very clear and with great color, there is a large, unknown fly, a roach, Blatteridae, a gnat, another fungus gnat, diptera, Mycetophilidae and a few other small animals - even a good sized wasp, Hymenoptera. This is a very impressive piece of amber - the type that is big enough just to set on your desk.

41. Unusual piece, there is a lot of organic debris
that clouds the view. But you can see a caddis
fly, Triphoptera, a fungus
gnat, Diptera Mycetophilidae and some very
strange bubbles.

42. A termite and a roach are the dominant animals in this piece of 24 million year old Dominican amber. There is also a large piece of dirt (at least that is what it looks like.)

43. You will like this. A large and very easily
seen leaf which hides one of the largest
flies that I have seen (you can only see the posterior
portion. There are also some
unidentified body parts.

Here is a
psyllid. Now I admit that they are not rare in amber, but
this is a good one. Even more so, the antennae are rather
long on this animal - enough that I think it may be a new
species (although I do not consider myself an expert in Homoptera.)
If it is - I want the name!

Here is a wasp, Hymenoptera and a flat bark beetle, Coleoptera, Cucujidae.

A second look is required here. I think this is a ptilodactlid beetle, Coleoptera, Ptylodactylidae. The piece is very busy with num erous air bubbles and another beetle, flat footed ambrosia beetle, Coleoptera, Platypodidae. the amber is large and very interesting.

47. This is a pendant "wanna-be". This has 3 stamens and
filaments. Very clear, very yellow and very nice. This is a winner.

48.
Long and thin piece of amber
that has a long-legged fly,
Diptera, Dolichopodidae and a small
thrip's. Best of all though is this contains a large
mite. In fact it looks like he is carrying
something (although we all know mites do not carry objects.)

49. This is a lovely piece. Clear with great color and a wonderful female worker ant, Hymenoptera, Formicidae. Once you see this one, you will fall in love with it.

This is a small piece of amber. There are two cool animals inside, one which is a midge, Chironomiidae and the other is a small roach, Orthoptera, Blattidae.

51. This has an isopod next to a very nice fly, Diptera, Brachycera.
There is some surface glazing on this piece, otherwise the price would be double.

52. This is a Scanned
small piece of glazed amber. Like the piece above, it contains
an isopod - a very nice
one at that.

What an exciting piece to look at. This large piece of amber has a slew of good sized winged termites. There are wings all over the place - in fact there are more wings than termite bodies. Just plain fun - you will love this.

54 .
Nice sized piece of amber that has a set
of termite wings and the partial remains of a
millipede, Polyxenida.
There is also a beetle, Coleoptera, Scydmaenidae (I think).
