A face only a mother could love..............this ancient female worker ant was probably a leaf cutter ant, Hymenoptera, Formicidae. She is curled near the center, impressive. There is also a wasp, Hymenoptera off to the side of the ant. You could make this into a pendant and still see the ant.
The ant is interesting, mottled areas of darknessa (probably carbon films) and you can see where they have pulled away, rather like drying on mud flats.

I love this piece. It's claim to fame are not animals inside, but
an amber tube. These tubes form and then another resin flow occurs
and surrounds the stalactite - unusual piece.

An very rare specimen - this is a treehopper, family Membracidae. The specimen appears to be looking backwards but in reality the head has three projections, one extending backwards. These are VERY rare in amber. This particular specimen appears to have been split and glued back together. I am not sure, but it looks like it. It is still unbelievable and so rare, that this is a super piece.
Needless to say, you will never see one for sale again and never at this price.

68. What a piece of amber. If you are looking for Dominican amber to be made into a pendant, this is it. Perfect shape, perfect color - perfect everything. It even has a cool line of 24 million year old air bubbles. There is a March fly, Diptera, Bibionidae (I think) off on one side. the insect is not large. This is a great piece because of the size and shape.

in amber. Of course there are
gnats and a

I am going to ID this animal as a crane
fly, Diptera, Tipulidae
- but I have some serious doubts about the strange markings on this guy. The thorax
is slightly elongated similar to a praying mantis - but I do
not think it is. I must ell you, the more I see it, the more I think
it is a praying mantis. Just not
100% sure - but one thing I am though, this is a good
piece. Take a look at the patterning on the legs.
