Here is "Jurassic Park" - a
mosquito. Mosquitos are very rare in amber since they are not
attracted to the aromatic
resins from trees, but heat and CO2 instead. So you do not find
them in amber very often. When you do, the amber is often not very
good. This
is the exception - a perfect piece with beautiful
clarity - a real special
one for a collection. No guarantee that this fed
on a dinosaur, but heck who knows, it certainly is fun to think
about. You just do not see pieces of amber

Nice sized piece of a Dominican
amber with 50 or so a female
worker ants, Hymenoptera, a Formicidae.
This death assembly must have been the result of a resin flow over
a a grouping
of female ants. There is also a nice, large fly near the middle,
Diptera, Brachycera.

This is a piece of amber that is red. Rather unusual - even more
so since it has 3 flying wasps, Hymenoptera. The piece is long and it has a beautiful

This has a lot, in fact it is a good one for "story telling".
There is part of a spider's web, a caddis
fly, Trichoptera
and an
unusual mite,
even an ant
thrown in. Nice sized piece of amber.

Ya gott'a have some fun somewhere. Here it is - the spider and the
fly, Lauxaniidae. The piece is not polished super well, is dark red and has some

A very
large pseudoscorpion, Chelonethida, is located just
off center in this piece of 24 million year old Dominican amber.
There is also
a twig or
similar object that I cannot quite identify. The piece is rather
busy and

#11 Not sure on this. There are 2 animals, one a gnat, probably
fungus gnat and the other is unknown. It is surrounded by fine
hairs. It looks like (to me) what a large spider would do, rubbing
off its hairs to interfere with an insect. That is not necessarily

#12 Here is another rare piece of amber. 24 million years ago an
animal that had hair brushed up against the sticky resin and lost
a few of its hairs as it moved on. Now, for your viewing pleasure,
are a few VERY OLD hairs. What a gift for a barber. There is surface
glazing on the amber, but in no way detracts from the rarity of

#22 One heck of a piece this is! Some female worker ants, Bryophyte
leaves, some unknowns - a lot. Above all though is the fact that
this piece contains 2 (yes 2 - VERY unusual to see one, much less
two) bristletails, Diplura, Thysanura. Bristletails are advanced
" wingless insects". They are the ancestor to the winged

it contains

Postage for amber will usually cost $4.60 (USD) per order, anywhere in the world. There may be exceptions to this. We will get your sample
to you as soon as possible (usually mailed the same day or at worst, the next day). U.S. orders
go out by Priority Mail, overseas as Air Mail. Books are normally mailed "Media Mail", unless they are light, in which case they are mailed first class.
Overseas books are air mail unless the weight is prohibitive, in which case you will have the option of surface (ship) or paying a bit extra for air mail.
All prices are in U.S. dollars. If you are overseas and want something other than normal air mail - contact us when you make the purchase.
