Sumatran Blue Amber
Sumatran amber has many colors, from the 'amber' color all the way to blue. We have a fairly large supply of this amber and would like to sell it at the
kilogram level. We offer this good amber at $575 per kilogram, which ends up being about 58 cents per gram. (1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds).
Indonesia consists of 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited. The largest are Java, Sumatra, Borneo (shared with Brunei and Malaysia), New Guinea (shared with Papua New Guinea), and Sulawesi. Indonesia shares land borders with Malaysia on Borneo, Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea, and East Timor on the island of Timor.
Up to this point amber from Indonesia has not been mined. While amber from Indonesia does show up from time to time, there has been no regular amber mining in the region – until now.
The two major amber producing areas are Sumatra and Kalimantan. Kalimantan amber is very similar to Baltic amber in appearance. Sumatran amber is special. It is found in the regular ‘amber-color’ and also in reddish hues, olive green and believe it or not – blue. It used to be the only real blue amber was found in the Dominican Republic and a small amount in Mexico. Blue amber from the Baltic area is heat and chemically treated.
The blue amber is beautiful. When look at the amber in reflected light it is blue, but when looking through the amber it looks reddish brown.
The Indonesia amber polishes well and is almost indistinguishable from Baltic. The blue amber is a wonderful substance that equals or surpasses Dominican blue. Like Dominican blue, Sumatran blue needs natural light to show the beauty.
This is really nice Indonesian Blue amber. It is priced exceptionally well, we are offering this for only $2 per gram. Some of the pieces that do not show the blue well are only $1 per gram. That is a lot better than some Dominican blue that is $200 per gram. And this is real blue. All of the amber was taken outside in the sunlight. This material is bound to go up in price, soon. We can supply your needs with any quantity that you want
