Usually I know exactly what I am looking at - while I do know this is a feather. I picked it up a year ago as a dinosaur feather. I do not have the slightest idea which it is (bird or dinosaur).
This is Burmese amber (Cretaceous). The piece is not large, but circular and rather cabochon shaped. The feather shows up better in the photos than real life since it is also small. When I look at other dinosaur feathers (images), this looks like one. But my heart might be misleading myself. If it is a dinosaur feather, you have something rather spectacular. If it is a bird feather, you still have something really cool - just not as much.
I am open for comments from anyone, you can email me at lundberg@ambericawest.com.
The more I read about the difference, I think this might be a dinosaur feather (bear in mind, I am not an expert).
