Burmese Tick in Amber
Here is a tick that was found in Burmesse amber. The tick is small, but VERY distinctive. All features are visible - mouth parts, legs and the surface of the body, all in great detail. I would like to remind everyone that ticks are just so seldom seen in amber. Since they are not attracted to the aroma of fresh resin like other insects, you do not find them normally in amber. They are highly prized when they are found. There are 2 (or maybe 3) visible air bubbles on the ventral side of this animal. This is a beautiful specimen.
